Synopse
A fantastic comedy about courage, life and the best friend nobody would ever ask for. Eleven-year-old Samuel is finally back home after a long illness. But instead of embracing life, he avoids anything that might be dangerous: germs, other kids and any kind of risk. Then Frida suddenly appears, the happiest and most curious little Grim Reaper in training ever. Of all people, cautious Samuel has been chosen to teach her what life is all about. As Samuel desperately tries to get rid of Frida, the two of them, together with his parents and plenty of other kids, stumble into one chaotic adventure after another.

Katja Benrath is a German director and screenwriter. She studied directing at the Hamburg Media School. Her graduation film Watu Wote – All of Us won a Student Academy Award and was nominated for an Academy Award. Her latest family film Sammy & Frida premiered at the 2026 Giffoni Film Festival, where it won the Gryphon Award for Best Film.
