Free Admission Day
On 3 October, FilmFest Hamburg is celebrating Free Admission Day. Our mission: to give everyone the opportunity to enjoy a day at the cinema. With free admission and 37 entertaining films from all over the world. Click here for a list of participating cinemas.
Free Admission Day lets visitors experience the political side of the strawberry harvest, the joys and sorrows of first love, coming-of-age gems, Cannes award-winners and a final burst of summer. And there’s something in store for young cinema-goers too, with two children’s films on the programme. This makes the public holiday celebrating the German Reunification a truly shared experience bringing people together.

Alternative ways to get tickets
As an alternative to booking online, tickets can be booked in person at the festival cinemas Abaton, Metropolis, Passage Kino and Studio Kino from 10 September, and at CinemaxX Dammtor from 25 September. Any remaining tickets – if available – will be on offer at all box offices on 3 October

We know that Free Admission Day is popular. That’s why we’re releasing tickets in batches – on 19 and 30 September, at 4 pm on each day.
Something came up?
You can cancel tickets for any film running on Free Admission Day. It is only by cancelling your tickets that you allow other interested people to take your place. Thank you very much!
