The successful online event series Explorer Impuls presents free digital sessions focusing on innovation in the film and media industry. Its aim is to foster meaningful exchange within the industry and further strengthen connections across the community. The sessions take place every four to eight weeks and are curated by producer Ali Hakim in the spirit of the Explorer Konferenz. AI Workflows for Every Stage of Film Production
AI is already part of nearly every stage of filmmaking, from the first pitch document to the final trailer, but most conversations about it stay stuck somewhere between hype and fear. This session moves past both. Led by two people who work on opposite ends of the same pipeline every day, it looks at AI use in film and series production from a producer’s perspective: writers‘ room, project management, pre-production, and production itself. Where does AI cut budget without cutting corners? Where does it raise the creative ceiling instead of just the output volume? And where are the real limits, the ones the demos don’t show? In this session, we walk through actual professional workflows, with real examples of scenes and how they were produced, and what it takes to keep the results broadcaster compliant and copyrightable.
Elena Lyubarskaya is a creator and producer (Pauline, City of Blood, Frankfurter Files) and founder of The Difference Machine, a Berlin based production system that pairs narrative methodology with AI tooling. She has spent the past two years building and stress testing an AI development and production pipeline.
Milad Mesof is The Difference Machine’s AI lead, with 13+ years in VFX before moving into AI, including credits on House of David (Amazon), Cloud Atlas (Warner Bros.) and Beauty and the Beast (Disney). He runs the pipeline that decides which model touches every frame, and he’s the one who has to make the output hold up to a broadcaster’s standards, not just look good in a demo.
