Synopse
DOCUMENTARY Polish photographer and film maker Piotr Pawlus has made a deeply humanistic work about the devastation the war in Ukraine has left in its wake. Pawlus starts out doing voluntary work in Ukraine and transports vital goods from Poland to help fleeing civilians, before taking up his camera. The film portrays everyday life in Ukraine, right up to the front line. He shows destruction, grief and resilience, and juxtaposes the ruins of a lost normality with the voices of the survivors.
Regie
Piotr Pawlus worked as cameraperson on Sergei Loznitsa’s films Invasion and Champ de mars. His debut feature of 2021, co-directed with Tomasz Wolski, In Ukraine was also a portrait of the war-torn country.
