You Deserve a Lover

Story

Oh, l’amour! In her candid debut film as director, actor Hafsia Herzi looks at the life of a modern young woman who after a break-up gets lost in the subjunctive of love. Lila (Hafsia Herzi) is suffering after breaking up with her boyfriend Rémi. Although he kept being unfaithful and lying to her, she just can’t get him out of her head. When Rémi decides to go to Bolivia in order to find himself, Lila sets out to try and find a suitable substitute. At every encounter she hopes for recognition and consolation and stumbles from one date to the next, enjoying the time spent in other people’s beds, passionately debating love and sexuality with her friends – and nonetheless in danger of losing herself.

Director

HAFSIA HERZI (*1987) celebrated her breakthrough as an actor in 2007 in Abdellatif Kechiche‘s Couscous, for which she won a César for best young talent. You Deserve a Lover is her debut feature as director.
