Beyond the Walls

Story

Paulo und Ilir are in seventh heaven. The two young men have fallen head over heels for each other and are enjoying the first flush of romance. Paolo, the younger and also the weaker and needier of the two, swears his undying love. Then, out of nowhere, disaster strikes: Ilir is sent to prison for 18 months for possessing drugs. At first, their feelings remain unchanged, despite the constraints of visiting times – but while time stands still behind bars, outside it moves on. David Lambert’s beautiful yet painful drama won the Grand Rail d’Or for the best film at this year’s Semaine Internationale de la Critique in Cannes.
