Story

The Tamil freedom fighter Dheepan lost his wife and child in the civil war in Sri Lanka. Now he‘s trying to create a new life for himself in a shabby suburb of Paris, pretending to live with a young woman and a little girl he doesn‘t know, as in their passports it says they‘re a family. In the fight for integration and freedom, they end up between the lines of a gang war and Dheepan has to defend his new “family”. Jacques Audiard‘s film won the Golden Palm at this year‘s Cannes festival.
