Synopse
DOCUMENTARY A visually powerful film between fairytale and reality tells of the will to survive of a Traveller family on the edge of society. In fields off a remote road live the O’Reilly family in a dilapidated caravan. Here, Pa and Lisa and their ten children brave the four seasons. They’re members of the Irish Traveller community, an alternative way of life that is dying out. Facing the threat of eviction, the fragile balance of their lives is tottering, but in accordance with their tradition, they don’t give up easily. The kids laugh, the dogs bark and the tin castle is still standing – just. But for how much longer?

Alexander Murphy is a French-Irish documentary film-maker. His work explores provenance, displacement and cultural transfer. Tin Castle is his second full-length film.
