Synopse

A mystery thriller about a missing teenager in the Andes, with a quiet, yet threatening beauty, and an allegory about the culture of silence in Chile shortly after the end of the Pinochet era. Chile 1992, two years after Pinochet. 9-year old Inés is parked in her grandparents’ hotel at a ski resort while her parents transport an iceberg from the Antarctic to the Expo in Seville. As she roams the deserted corridors and rooms, she comes across 15-year old Hanna, a German ski tourist, and the two become friends. But then Hanna disappears and the search for her reveals hidden secrets.

Regie

Manuela Martelli has acted in numerous films and TV series. Her much-praised directorial debut feature 1976 (FFHH 2022) dealt with the inhumanity and corruption of the Pinochet era. The Meltdown was shown at Cannes in the section Un Certain Regard.
