Synopse

The demons of Fyodor Dostoyevsky – and a woman stronger than the genius: in her adaptation of the biography "The Gambler Wife", Małgorzata Szumowska and Michał Englert portray a fascinating pair of artists full of depth and absurdity. Fyodor Dostoyevsky (Johnny Flynn) and his wife Anna (Aimee Lou Wood) are spending their honeymoon in a spa town where Ivan Turgeniev (Christian Friedel) is also passing his summer holidays. While Fyodor blows the little money they have in the casino, chases other women and resists every creative impulse, in the background Anna pulls the strings. With Chekhov’s support, she puts all her efforts into getting her husband to finish his novel "The Idiot".
