Synopse
ANIMATION I’ll stand by you! Based on Sarah Leavitt’s eponymous graphic novel, The film turns memory, humous and pain into a heartfelt tribute to a beloved mother. San Francisco in the 1990s: Sarah draws comics for a queer city magazine, falls in love with charismatic Donimo and is a few steps away from her breakthrough as an illustrator. On family visits, she starts to notice changes in her mother Midge. When an Alzheimer diagnosis is confirmed, Sarah has to find stability on the one hand and offer support on the other – in a loving family, where everyone finds their own way of dealing with the inevitable changes.

Leah Nelson is a director and co-founder of the Giant Ant animation studio in Vancouver. After shorts and documentaries, Tangles is her debut feature and had its world premiere in Cannes.
