Synopse

A semi-autobiographical drama about one day in Lagos during the election crisis in the early 1990s and the first Nigerian film to be shown in the official selection at Cannes. Lagos, 1993. In the course of presidential elections, Nigeria is hit by a political crisis. All over the country, there are violent clashes and right at the highpoint of the tensions the two brothers Remi and Akin travel to the capital for the first time to spend a day with their alienated father. He tries to bring himself and the two boys to safety before they suffer political consequences. And only when they get there do the brothers realize what burdens their father has taken on to take care of them.


Regie

AKINOLA DAVIES won the Short Film Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival in 2021 for his film Lizard. Besides working as a film director, he realizes campaigns for major fashion brands and makes music videos for among others Neneh Cherry, Kae Tempest or Blood Orange.
