Synopse
DOCUMENTARY An intense film diary recorded by Abdallah Al-Khatib of the besieging of his district in the Syrian civil war which develops its own aesthetic of starvation. Yarmouk, a borough of the Syrian capital Damascus, was from 1957 to 2018 the largest Palestinian refugee camp in the world. When the Syrian revolution broke out, the Assad regime regarded Yarmouk as a rebel refuge and began besieging it in 2013 – Yarmouk was cut off from the outside world. Armed with nothing but a camera, Abdallah Al-Khatib filmed everyday life during the siege and thus gave the inhabitants back the dignity taken from them by Assad’s bombs.
