Synopse

Colonial history and family conflicts intermingle while impressively photographed worlds of black and white threaten to bury the protagonists beneath them. In the year 1617, the Spanish monk Padre Enciso rules over the local population of an island in the Philippines with an iron fist. He asks his son to arrange the transport of marble for a new church from the coast into the jungle. While his troops are exposed to ruthless attacks from a bandit called Baribari, a local healer opposes the rule of Padre Enciso. Slowly the anger of the oppressed comes to the boil.
