Synopse
ANIMATION a colourful summer full of music, fantasy and a family history. 7-year old Julián is spending the summer holidays at his grandmother’s in Brooklyn. Here, he becomes friends with three girls, who are preparing their costumes for the traditional Mermaid Parade on Coney Island. Between music, neighbourhood and his granny’s stories, Julián discovers his family history and Caribbean roots. The film is based on the award-winning children’s book "Julián is a Mermaid" by Jessica Love.
Regie
Louise Bagnall is an Irish director and animator. Her short film Late Afternoon was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film in 2019. Her feature debut, Julián, had its world premiere at the 2026 Annecy International Animation Film Festival.
