Synopse

Doris Dörrie’s bittersweet tragicomedy about humanity in every sense of the word in a technological world is also a homage to legendary actress Angela Winkler. 2030. After the premature death of her beloved husband and stage partner, former actress Frau Winkler has only her daughter Emi and granddaughter Billie left. But when she suffers a fall, she is suddenly dependent on intensive help. Her daughter is out of her depth and engages a care robot, with which, after some initial resistance, Frau Winkler gets on well. It takes good care of her and entertains her – but also transmits her deteriorating vital parameters to a health system based on efficiency.

Regie

Doris Dörrie had her international breakthrough in 1985 with the comedy Men... and has been one of Germany’s most important film makers ever since. In 2005, FilmFest Hamburg opened with her film The Fisherman and His Wife. Besides her work as director, she is also a bestseller author and held the Chair of Creative Writing from 1997 to 2023 at the HFF Munich, where she is still active as an honorary professor.
