Synopse

A tense, yet moving story from Iran about a society trying to survive the current political conditions. Rashid works as a prison warder and lives with his family on the outskirts of Tehran. One day they are told that their house is planned for demolition as part of a large redevelopment project. And if that wasn’t enough: Rashid makes a serious mistake at work and is suspended. At the same time he learns incidentally that his daughter is planning to emigrate so she can work as a model. He is determined to dissuade her and do everything he can to prevent her from leaving the house. Meanwhile, the bulldozers come ever closer.

Regie

Mohsen Gharaie studied Mining Engineering at Tehran University, before he began making films in 2007. The Falling House is his next film after the award-winning Blockage (2017), in which he also portrayed contemporary Iranian society.
