Synopse
Eurotrash, based on the novel of the same name by Christian Kracht, is a dizzying journey into psychosis, a hall of mirrors of personal and universal reckoning, and a film about the tenderness and malice of a dying mother and her son. When the writer Philipp is forced to realise that he and his wealthy family are the worst kind of people, he sets off on a breathtaking road trip through Switzerland with his terminally ill and perpetually drunk mother, Helene. Whilst attempting to give away her amassed fortune, the pair encounter an angelic taxi driver and must defend their plastic bag full of money against greedy crooks. Magic is at work, and in the end Philipp finds what he has always wanted: a mother.
Regie
Frauke Finsterwalder studied documentary film-making at the Hochschule für Fernsehen und Film in Munich. Her debut feature Finsterworld (2013) won several international awards. Her second feature Sisi & I had its premiere in 2023 at the Berlinale
