Synopse

A debut film that won an award at Cannes is a nightmarish thriller about the everyday life of a transgender community in Nepal, struggling to deal with the increasing hostility of its neighbours. In a remote Nepalese village deep in the forest, Pirati is matriarch of a community of Kinnar women, an age-old group of members of a third sex, who are both revered and feared. At night wild elephants roam the darkness and the village dwellers are forced go out and patrol in order to protect their crops and houses. But when one of Pirati’s daughters disappears and the police remain inactive, she has no choice but to start investigating by herself.
