Synopse

How can resistance work, when good and evil cannot easily be separated? An intense portrait of a generation, desperately fighting for a future worth living in. Four young people spend the summer on a remote mountain and found a radical community – free from possession, digital connections and monogamy. In this mythical place, there stands just one tree that gives shade. Under it lies a tangle of sweaty bodies. When they discover a child is on the way, they decide to bring it up in absolute freedom. Then their paradise is destroyed in a huge fire. What started out as an experiment of total freedom becomes the question of whether freedom is an illusion.

Regie

Leonie Krippendorff studied direction at the Filmuniversität Konrad Wolf and gained international recognition with her graduation film Looping (2016). In 2020, her debut feature Kokon opened the Berlinale section Generation 14+ and in 2021 she won the Bavarian Film Prize.
