Synopse
A drama that looks at migration and identity from different perspectives. A multi-facetted debut by the Ukrainian director Mykyta Gibalenko that is influenced by his own experiences. 2021: when 22-year old Vitaly leaves his mother Tetyana and his beloved sister Eugenia behind in Ukraine, he dreams of a new life as a student in Munich. Once there, he finds it hard to get a foothold, but then joins a student theatre group. But the invasion of Ukraine by Russia confronts him with two harsh realities – the international situation and his own family conflicts. Torn, Vitaly searches for the answer to the question: where do I belong?
Regie
Mykyta Gibalenko studied engineering at the National Technical University of the Ukraine in Kyiv. In 2013, he moved to Munich and finished his studies, before studying direction at the Hochschule für Fernsehen und Film in 2019. Camouflage is his debut feature.
