Synopse

SERIES When is a man a man? A comedy about a distorted male self-image and the recognition that strength has nothing to do with gender characteristics. Fitness trainer Julian gets the diagnosis that he has testicular cancer. He immediately starts worrying that he will lose both his virility and his girlfriend Noemi. Instead of telling her the truth, he gets caught up in a web of ever more absurd excuses, grotesque lies and embarrassing situations, from a failed sperm donation marathon to family chaos with inquisitive parents to panic about his emergency contact. His relationship with Noemi does indeed start to crumble – not because of his illness, but because of his dishonesty.

Regie

Benjamin Teske studied direction at the Hamburg Media School, where he made the short films Nachtbus and Stillstand. His Master’s film Fliehkraft won the Studio Hamburg Young Talent Prize in 2013 for best short film. Teske’s first full-length film Strawberry Bubblegums was shown in 2016 at FilmFest Hamburg.
