Synopse
Docudrama about the first generation of so-called Gastarbeiter in Germany. Carla and Maria Grazia meet for the first time outside the crematorium, where they are given the ashes of their father Agostino Rossi. He came from Tuscany to Wolfsburg in the 1950s to work at Volkswagen. He left his family behind in Italy and started another in Germany, without one knowing about the other. The film links the personal search of two half-sisters for their father’s past with interviews with former Gastarbeiter and historical archive material from the time of the Wirtschaftswunder [economic miracle] which attracted hundreds of thousands of mostly young Italians to Germany.
