Synopse
What comes after the disillusionment? With black humour, an incisive eye and empathy, the film examines the situation in a country full of human abysses. After he is arrested and his doctor’s practice closed, an Iranian doctor loses faith in the future. He decides to kill himself and spends his last day visiting his siblings and his mother to prepare them for the leave-taking. With care, closeness and empathy, his family try to reconcile him with a reality that gives little cause for hope.
Regie
Ali Asgari is an important new voice in Iranian cinema. The film he made with Alireza Khatami, Terrestrial Verses (FFHH 2023), was shown at numerous festivals. Divine Comedy had its German premiere in 2025 at FilmFest Hamburg.
