Start-up or standstill? How are new digital tools affecting the film industry? How are film production and the exploitation of stories changing in times of radical change?
The Explorer Conference #4 as part of the FILMFEST HAMBURG INDUSTRY DAYS ( October 2 to 6, 2023) will invite producers, financiers, funding institutions and students to discuss these relevant questions together with international guests and to take a look into the future of production for cinema, streaming and TV. With Highlight Sweden, there will be a country focus for the first time, and the special conference program for students will also be continued this year.
On October 6, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., German and international speakers will provide insights into their work and their strategies and impart future-oriented knowledge on two stages and in more than twelve program slots at the Catholic Academy in Hamburg. In their contributions, the experts will shed light on current phenomena and developments in an industry in a state of transition. Keynotes and case studies will cover topics such as the impact of artificial intelligence on creative work, current changes in film policy, upheavals in the TV and streaming market, the measurable effects of diversity, streamer showcases and much more.
With Highlight Sweden, a European guest country will be the focus of the program for the first time. Speakers from Sweden will travel to Hamburg with case studies, trend analyses and contributions to the debate. A delegation of Swedish conference participants is also expected. Partner of this format and national multiplier is the Swedish Film Institute.
A special conference program for young filmmakers is aimed exclusively at students who will participate in Explorer Conference #4 as a delegation. This year, about 100 young guests are expected to attend – this corresponds to almost a quarter of the total number of participants.
To get in the right frame of mind for the content of the conference day in the fall, there will be two online Explorer Impulses in advance on September 5 and 19, organized jointly with the Media TechHub Conference.
