Four films from last year’s FILMFEST HAMBURG programme have been nominated in the Best Foreign Language Film category and can now make it onto the shortlist of five Oscars’ nominees.

Voting will continue until 1 February. In the running are Kosovo’s Hive (director & screenplay: Blerta Basholli) – the debut film was awarded the NDR Young Talent Award at FILMFEST HAMBURG – , the 2021 opening film Great Freedom (director: Sebastian Meise, screenplay: Sebastian Meise & Thomas Reider) from Austria, Playground (director & screenplay: Laura Wandel ) from Belgium and The Hand of God (director & screenplay: Paolo Sorrentino) from Italy. All Oscar nominations will be announced on 8 February 2022. The 94th Academy Awards ceremony will take place on 27 March 2022 in Los Angeles.
