Story

A man and a woman and their love for one another. From constantly changing perspectives, the film tells his and her experiences, impression and memories over the course of a few days. He, Jocelyn, was away from home for four months. Now he returns, travelling across wintry Québec, first by train then after a night in a hotel in the car of someone he met while travelling. By evening, only a river separates him from his wife, but he has missed the last ferry. She, Esther, is waiting for him on the other side. At first with a girlfriend, then night falls and she is alone. A poetic masterpiece.

Director

Jacques Leduc (*1941) worked until 1990 for the National Film Board of Canada, first as camera assistent, then as director. In 2008, he won the Prix Alter-Tessier for his work for Québec cinema.
