Story
DOCUMENTARY Housing shortages in times of climate change: a district of Miami faces a new phenomenon which is changing the social tectonics of cities – climate gentrification. Poverty and systemic racism in Florida ensured that over generations the Liberty City district was ignored by political decision-makers. Now rising sea levels threaten Miami’s luxurious beach promenade and well-off property owners are pushing into the hinterland to find higher ground. The people of Liberty City, known from Barry Jenkins’ Oscar-winning film Moonlight, are in danger of being driven out of their homes.
