Innocence

Story

After being released from prison, Yussuf gets to know the singer, Ugur, her husband, Bekir, and their daughter. Bekir takes his own life when he realises that Ugur is in love with another man. Shortly after, Ugur disappears. Yussuf sets out to find her, with the silent little girl at his side. A film of dark images and with a singular narrative style, “Masumiyet” won a number of international awards.

Director

Zeki Demirkubuz (*1964) spent several years after the 1980 military coup in Turkey in prison. He has been making films since 1986. His international breakthrough came with the films Innocence (1997), Confession (2001) and Destiny (2006).
