Story
Based on the eponymous novel by Jack London, this visually impressive drama tells of the class struggle at the beginning of the 20th century and art as a means of emancipation. After seaman Martin Eden rescues Arturo, a young lad from a well-off family, from a fight, he is invited to Arturo’s family home in gratitude. Here, he meets Arturo’s sister Elena and falls for her head over heels. Determined to overcome the obstalces presented by his own humble origins, he resolves to become a writer. But under the influence of the leftist intellectual Russ, he gets into socialist circles – which puts him on a collision course with Elena and her bourgeois world.
