Story

Southern Germany in the spring of 1945. When Lore’s parents, high-ranking Nazis, are arrested, she and her younger siblings try to get to Hamburg where their grandmother lives. A dangerous journey through a ghostly landscape of destruction and hunger begins, a journey on which the children first realize the enormity of what their parents are responsible for. But the old ideology is hard to break. When Thomas, a Jewish concentration camp survivor, tries to help Lore, she sees him as an enemy – yet feels attracted to him. The encounter awakens hitherto unknown feelings and doubts.
