Story
Based on a true story, this gripping war story tells of a desperate fight for survival by two civilian seamen. Alfred Garnes and his childhood friend Wally are working on a merchant navy ship in mid-Atlantic when WWII breaks out. As unarmed civilians, they suddenly find themselves caught in between the fronts and could now be attacked at any time by a German U-boat. At the same time, Alfred’s wife Cecilia and three children are struggling to survive in Bergen. The RAF try to bombard the U-boat bunkers, but hit a primary school and private houses instead, resulting in hundreds of deaths. When the news reaches Alfred and Wally, they ask themselves if there will be anything left to go home to.
