Two sisters and a funeral: a dark Iranian comedy combines the weird humour of the Coen brothers with the laconic narrative of Kaurismäki. A brother and his two sisters have set up a mushroom farm and hope to make a fortune with their psychedelic wares. The brother is the boss and tyrannizes his sisters – one a mouselike autist, the other the owner of a beauty salon. On an impulse, the sisters get rid of their brother and tell everyone he’s emigrated to Germany. But truth and lie increasingly get in each other’s way – and the sisters’ fear of being found out approaches paranoia: what if their brother returns to take revenge?
