A true German indie production, made without any public financing: Janek Rieke’s first film for 24 years is an absurd comedy about a couple whose perfect façade is starting to crack. Olli (Janek Rieke) and Anja (Julia Hartmann) are a happy team – but then Anja gets pregnant and her body starts to release hormones that for a few weeks turn her into a different person. An exhausting person. Anja’s mood swings drive Olli to despair. Nine months later, the contractions begin. On the way to the hospital, Anja accidentally meets Olli’s lover. And from then on, everything than can go wrong, does.
JANEK RIEKE (*1971 in Hamburg) studied direction at Hamburg University. His debut feature Trial By Fire won the audience prize at the Max Ophüls Prize Film Festival in 1998.
