Story
The South-West of Texas was once part of the sea bed and has over time become mountains, prairie and desert. With almost archaeological care, At the Bottom of the Sea reveals the different layers and stories of the region. Nature is not untouched, but is a document of constant movement and circulation, even when presumed to be in stasis. Limestone, formed over centuries, is quickly mined. Humans cross the region in order to migrate to the USA. They leave behind possessions – and sometimes themselves. The landscape at first appears to be an imagination of the picturesque. But this picture doesn’t stand up in the face of reality. It seems no longer endless, but insidious. At the Bottom of the Sea brings differing dimensions of the terrain to the surface, as once the sea bed emerged.https://dokfilmwoche.com/de/project/at-the-bottom-of-the-sea/
