Synopse
Paul Dano's much-acclaimed directorial debut is a happy-sad coming-of-age drama about a family that is falling apart. Montana in the later 1950s: Joe and his parents live in a modest, rented bungalow. The 14-year old admires his father Jerry, who works at the local golf club. When Jerry is fired, the balance of power in the family changes. Joe's mother, a swimming instructor, is now responsible for keeping the family afloat. But Jerry can't deal with his new, secondary role. He takes on a badly paid job fighting fires in the neighbouring hills, which fuels the conflict at home. Joe can only watch helplessly as his family seems set to self-destruct.
