Synopse

DOCUMENTARY »I'm Jewish. What does that mean?« asks Daniel Cohn-Bendit in this film which is being shown at the FILMFEST in the framework of »1700 years of Jewish life in Germany«. A European, a Green, half-German, half-French: all these attributes can be applied to Daniel Cohn-Bendit. Least of all, he is seen as Jewish – also by himself. So Cohn-Bendit sets out on a personal search for his Jewishness. The people and places he meets and visits on his journey could scarcely be more different, yet the discussions always centre on the core questions of the film: What is »Jewish identity«? And what does Israel have to do with it?

After studying at the Film Academy Baden-Württemberg, NIKO APEL (*1978) has worked as a screenplay writer and director. Daniel Cohn-Bendit is his stepfather.
