Synopse
The song "Gracias a la vida" made Violeta Parra immortal. It was covered by Mercedes Sosa and Joan Baez and is seen as an important example of the Nueva Canción Chilena movement, which combined Chilean folk music with social criticism in the 1950s. Parra went from village to village, writing down the songs of the working people and composing her own. She became a painter, sculptor and potter, with exhibitions in the Louvre in Paris. The film is a biopic of the Chilean heroine of folk poetry that picks out key scenes from her life.
