Synopse
A drama about three generations of Iranian actresses, who enjoy different degrees of freedom to pursue their careers. Jafar Panahi's latest film is an impressive beacon of feminism. The well-known Iranian actress Behnaz Jafari receives a video message from a female fan. Together with her partner, director Jafar Panahi, she sets out in search of the girl. The journey to the North of the country brings with it surprising encounters: villagers who make single-lane mountain roads passable by means of clever, coded horn signals; old women trying out graves for size and mighty breeding bulls blocking the road. When they arrive in the girl's mountain village, the pair try to solve the mystery of her video.
Regie
Films by JAFAR PANAHI (*1960) have won many awards, including The Mirror (1997), The Circle (2000) and Offside (2006) making him one of Iran's most important independent film-makers. Because of his criticism of the regime, most of his films are not shown in Iran. The Accordion (2010), This Is not a Film (2011) and Closed Curtain (2013) have all been shown at FILMFEST HAMBURG.
