Synopse
Puberty with bees in the Berlusconi era: Alice Rohrwacher’s poetic coming-of-age drama won the Jury Grand Prix at Cannes in 2014. Gelsomina is 14 and lives in Tuscany. Her father, a former left-wing idealist from Germany, just about manages to keep the family above water with his beekeeping. To earn some extra money, he takes in a criminal youth in the framework of a social programme, who promptly turns Gelsomina’s emotional world upside down. When a new EU guideline threatens the honey farm, the girl hatches a plan: to get her family on the TV show Village Wonders – even if her father is dead against it.
