Synopse
12-year old Quassem has a goal: he wants to see a game of his favourite football club in Teheran. To get the necessary money together for the bus journey and the match ticket, any means is justified. He steals and lies and doesn't spare his parents. When his mother, with whom he's permanently at war, finds him out, he's in big trouble. Kiarostami's first film portrays a mother-son relationship poisoned by suspicion and denunciation and shows how widespread parental violence was in Iranian society of the time. This screening is preceded by the short film The House Is Black.
Regie
ABBAS KIAROSTAMI (*1940; †2016) was one of Iran's most significant directors and won numerous awards, including a Palme D'Or at the 1997 Cannes film festival for Ta'm e Guilass [Taste of Cherry].
