Synopse

Chen's estranged wife suddenly reappears, demanding a divorce and custody of their daughter. Unable to choose between her mother and her father, the music-loving daughter decides to live with whichever parent can secure her a piano. Desperate to keep his daugher, Chen tries borrowing money and even attempts to steal a piano. Finally, he decides to build the piano from scratch. Meanwhile, Chen's wife fights for legal custody of their daughter in the courts.


Regie

Zhang Meng (*1975) trained in the theatre in Beijing before writing screenplays for several years. His international breakthrough as a director came with The Piano in a Factory (FilmFest Hamburg 2011). Uncle Victory is his third feature film.
