Synopse
ESSAY With intellectual depth and sly humour, director Sophie Fiennes and philosopher Slavoj Žižek explore the hopelessness of the present with the help of popular cinema. When the end of history was announced at the end of the 20th century, it seemed that all Utopian potential had been lost. In the face of wars and climate change, the future looks increasingly bleak. But, armed with Hegel and Lacan and in the context of influential films, Slavoj Žižek develops a new perspective as a foil to dystopian hopelessness.
