Synopse
The cinema as a safe space for resistance: an Argentinian debut film that is a poignant humanistic fable about art and solidarity in times of crisis. Pelu, projectionist at a communal film club, is evicted and, after being demoted to night watchman, secretly moves into the cinema. Gradually he transforms it into a place of refuge, accommodates homeless friends and puts it at the disposal of a camgirl for her OnlyFans videos. The precarious economic situation in which they all live is part of a more comprehensive plight set to envelop the little community completely when the cinema is in danger of closing for good.
Regie
Ezequiel Salinas and Ramiro Sonzini both come from Córdoba, Argentina. Salinas works as a director and cameraman, Sonzini is a film-maker, editor and film critic. The Night is Fading Away is their debut feature and had its premiere at the Valdivia International Film Festival in Chile.
