Synopse
The ageing widower Shigeki is lovingly cared for by young Machiko, who recently lost her only child. On a trip to the country, Shigeki runs off into the forest to seek his wife's grave. Machiko follows him and after several days they actually find it. Now Shigeki must write one final letter to his wife. A filmic meditation on love and reverence for life by Caméra d'Or winner Naomi Kawase.
Regie
Naomi Kawase, (*1969) was the youngest winner of the Camera d'Or in Cannes for her first feature Suzaku (1997). Ten years later the Japanese director won the Grand Prix in Cannes for The Mourning Forest.
