Synopse

John has done his time and now wants to start all over again. But already on the long drive home from jail to the family farm, the tensions between him and his father are tangible. The village community is also not exactly enthusiastic about the return of the prodigal prisoner. What he did is neither forgotten nor forgiven. He is treated with hostility, schoolfriends ostracize him, soon the stones start to fly. A lynch-mob atmosphere starts to spread. And in John, the same aggression starts to form that got him into prison in the first place. Unable to leave his past behind him, he strikes back. The Here After is a forceful, minimalistic drama.

MAGNUS VON HORN (*1983) is a Swedish film-maker living and working in Poland. His debut feature "The Here After" (FILMFEST HAMBURG 2015) ran in the Quinzaine des Réalisateurs section at Cannes. This year "Sweat" also bears the Cannes Label.
