19-year-old Júlio is still wet behind the ears when he moves to Lisbon. On his arrival he meets the young maid Ilda. Boy meets girl – always a good start to a film. In this case it marks the start to modern Portuguese cinema. A completely new, radical view of the world, costarring the "white city" upon the River Tejo.
