Synopse
Can one be good in Hell? Magnus von Horn’s new film is a haunting social drama about poverty and a terrible truth. Copenhagen after World War 1: to escape her precarious material situation, Karoline (Vic Carmen Sonne) a young factory worker, gives in to the advances of her boss and gets pregnant. But he leaves her high and dry. When she meets Dagmar (Trine Dyrholm), she finds new hope. Dagmar runs her own adoption agency, helping destitute women find foster families for their children. A strong connection between the two women is forged, until Karoline discovers the demonic secret behind Dagmar’s business.

MAGNUS VON HORN (*1983 in Sweden) is a film-maker living and working in Poland. FILMFEST HAMBURG showed his films The Here After in 2015 and Sweat in 2020. The Girl with the Needle ran in competition at the Film Festival in Cannes.
