Synopse
Ji-young works at a TV channel, her boyfriend Su-hyeon lectures in art. They've lived together for six years and are fundamentally happy in their more or less stable relationship. This changes when Ji-young senses that she's pregnant and the question of starting a family comes up. The pair set out together to visit their families, Ji-young's bourgeois parents and Su-hyeon's dysfunctional clan in the provinces. The First Lap portrays the couple's search for the core of their relationship and in almost naturalistic pictures examines the growing self-confidence of a young generation in terms of traditional family ideals, but without losing its light touch.
