Synopse

A warm homage to literature and life: Christoph Maria Herbst is »Der Buchspazierer« in the film version of the eponymous bestseller. Day after day, Carl Kollhoff (Christoph Maria Herbst) stands in the back room of a bookshop, carefully wrapping books before delivering them to his regular customers. Books are the great love of this shy, taciturn man. On one of his tours he meets 9-year old Schascha (Yuna Bennett) who then sticks to him like a limpet. He unwillingly accepts the new companion on his delivery runs who calls him the »Buchspazierer« (book-walker). Schascha soon finds a place in the hearts of Carl’s customers and even brings him to break out of his own world.

Regie

NGO THE CHAU (*1977 in Vietnam) came to Berlin when still a child, before later studying Camera at the DFFB. He has won the German TV Prize in the category Camera three times, the last time in 2020 for Bad Banks. Der Buchspazierer is his directional debut.
